Structure // about / structure In the fall of 2007 we reorganized Students for a Sustainable Stanford. By creating subgroups, we have allowed for more efficiency both during meetings and in accomplishing change. There are five subgroups: Climate Change Initiatives, Cultures of Sustainability, the Green Fund, the Green Living Council, and the Campus Carbon Squad.
Cultures of Sustainability Cultures of Sustainability plans events to encourage sustainable thinking and behavior throughout the Stanford community. Its projects include the biweekly Environmental Faculty Dinner Series and the Greenfest held every spring. Climate Change Initiatives Climate Change Initiatives represents Stanford in political events that confront the challenges of global warming, such as Step It Up, Power Shift, and Focus the Nation. Green Fund The Green Fund is establishing a fund to enable student-involved projects that will reduce Stanford's environmental impact while educating its community. Green Living Council The Green Living Council allows students to become representatives of sustainability for their dorm and encourage more environmentally-friendly behavior among their dormmates. It replaces the old Environmental Representatives program. Campus Carbon Squad Replacing the Zero Waste Committee in winter '08 is a new group, the Campus Carbon Squad, that aims to reduce Stanford's carbon footprint, primarily through finding, recommending, and implementing better technologies for Stanford's buildings.
