Students for a Sustainable Stanford has been the driving force behind Stanford’s celebration of Earth Day in April for many years. Though we organize the event in coordination with many other environmental groups, the event rests squarely on the shoulders of whichever individuals are up to the task within our group. Generally, Earth Day has been an informal and celebratory event rather than an academically oriented and serious event. We are however working toward a more professional approach to Earth Day, one that will raise awareness as much as it will raise spirits.
