The Rules
The dorm and house that reduced its energy and water consumption by the largest percentage from the same period last year receives the coveted "Turning Off Turns Me On" t-shirts and water and energy conservation improvements like EnergyStar refrigerators and low-flow toilets. The competition has two categories: Best House (all Row Houses and GovCo houses like East), and Best Dorm (All dorm complexes like Lagunita, Stern, as well as each Suite building and Manzanita dorm, Toyon, and Branner). Stanford uses 2.7 million gallons of potable water each day.
You can make a difference!

Save Water
Cut shower time by 4 minutes and save 10 gallons.
Run sink faucets 2 minutes less and save 3 gallons.
Wash only full loads of laundry and save 15 gallons.
Report leaking fixtures to your Housing Supervisor
Save Energy
Turn off lights when you leave a room
Open blinds and use natural light during the day
Turn off the heat when you go out
Turn off your computer and monitor when not in use

The Competition

Congradulations to everyone - we have saved an enormous amount of water and energy during the competition - some houses cut down around 1/4 of their energy and water uses! If you want to know how much your dorm conserved, download the Final Rankings which is an Xcel spreadsheet with the percentage reduction of each residence. The Competition is finished and the winners are:
