Annual Energy Bowl
and Water Derby

// projects / energybowl

It’s a simple idea: dorms and row houses across Stanford’s campus compete to see which of them can most drastically reduce their energy and water usage relative to the previous year’s usage. The winner takes home sustainable technologies and organic tee shirts.

The Energy Bowl and Water Derby originated in 2005, when Seth Silverman joined SSS. He was inspired by similar programs at other universities across the nation, and encouraged Stanford energy and facilities operations to make it happen at Stanford. It has been a major success, saving the Univeristy thousands of dollars worth of facilities costs, and has inculcated cultures of sustainability among the student body. We hope to continue with this exciting project.
