Green My Apple
// projects / Green my Apple
The Green My Apple campaign seeks to convince Apple, Inc. to phase out the toxic substances found in their computers and to improve their recycling program. These toxins include carcinogenic PVC plastic (polyvinyl chloride) and BFR's (brominated flame retardants), which harm the developmental, hormonal, and reproductive health of workers who must disassemble discarded electronics. All other major electronic companies- Samsung, Nokia, Sony, Ericsson, HP, and Dell- have made stronger commitments to phasing out these compounds. As a high-profile Apple customer, Stanford could send a powerful message asking that Apple follow suit and "green" its products.
