The Stanford Doerr School of Sustainability is honored to host Chief Raoni Metuktire, a globally recognized nature conservationist, environmental justice ambassador and leader of the Kayapó people or, as they call themselves, Mebêngôkre peoples in the Brazilian Amazon.
This enlightening session will include the exclusive screening of the yet-to-be-released documentary, “The Chief's Call: Heritage, Land and Future.” This unique documentary provides an intimate glimpse into Chief Raoni's lifelong dedication to preserving forests and advocating for Indigenous Peoples' rights and wisdom. It also shares the Chief’s urgent call to safeguard the biological and cultural diversity of our planet.
This is a rare opportunity to listen to the voices of Indigenous peoples and their allies in their quest for the protection of Earth's biocultural diversity and engage directly with pivotal figures in global environmental advocacy.
