Dean’s Lecture featuring Rob Jackson and Leif Wenar
Join us in person on Feb. 13 to hear Earth system scientist Rob Jackson and political philosopher Leif Wenar discuss the ethical dimensions of climate action and our shared moral responsibilities.

Please join us for a Dean’s Lecture Series event featuring Rob Jackson, professor of Earth System Science and author of Into the Clear Blue Sky, a journey from climate despair to climate repair that highlights the importance of both individual and collective actions in restoring our planet’s atmosphere.

Leif Wenar of the McCoy Family Center for Ethics in Society will facilitate a discussion on the ethical dimensions of climate action, exploring our shared moral responsibilities.
“Our Dean’s Lecture Series brings together scholars and thought leaders to discuss the frontiers of sustainability research, education and impact, which are essential to addressing the world’s most pressing challenges,” said Dean Arun Majumdar. “Rob and Leif offer both a vision for restoring the environment and a roadmap of individual and collective action to make it a reality.”
Wenar will incorporate pre-submitted audience questions, delving into the complexities of sustainability. The event will conclude with a performance by student Vivian Shay of a song inspired by Jackson’s book, offering a powerful artistic expression of hope.
This event takes place at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 13 the Bechtel Conference Center, Encina Hall, 616 Jane Stanford Way, Stanford Campus. This event will not be livestreamed; the recording of the lecture will be shared on our YouTube channel about a week after the event.
