Guadalupe Carrillo, PhD

As the Assistant Dean for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion at the Stanford Doerr School of Sustainability, Dr. Lupe Carrillo leads the office that oversees recruitment and inclusion initiatives for the Doerr school’s students, staff, and faculty. She also implements National Science Foundation supported programs to build a broad talent pipeline into the field of sustainability, such as the SURGE undergraduate research program and the Dean’s Postdoctoral Fellowship. She has co-written a book chapter for Springer Nature on creating teaching partnerships at minority-serving institutions and led and completed the implementation of the school’s 3-year Diversity, Equity and Inclusion action plan, which helped embed recruitment and inclusion values into the foundation of Stanford’s newest school. Lupe holds a B.A. in English and Political Science from UC Berkeley and a PhD in English from Stanford University and has taught classes on 20th and 21st century American ethnic literature at De Anza College and Stanford.
